As 2024 comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a year filled with growth, challenges, and remarkable achievements at Icon Metal. This year, our team has reached significant milestones, successfully delivering high-quality architectural metalwork and structural steel across Australia.
One of our most significant accomplishments this year was our contribution to the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1project, where we fabricated and installed stop canopies, structural steel, and Integrated Service Cabinets across 16 stops. Our expertise also played a key role in major Sydney Metro projects, including work at Gadigal, Barangaroo, and Victoria Cross stations.
Our team proudly installed five bridges for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals at Randwick and Westmead and continued fabricating and installing structural steel and miscellaneous metalwork at Western Sydney Airport and the heritage-listed Lands Building.
Behind every successful project stands our dedicated team - spanning office staff, workshop specialists, and on-site crews - working together to achieve excellence. Our strong values of safety, resilience, and collaboration have driven our success this year, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards.
We were honoured to receive a Highly Commended Award at the Australian Steel Institute 2024 Awards in the ‘Buildings: Small Projects’ category, recognising our work on the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 project.
Additionally, we successfully renewed our three ISO accreditations, secured our Queensland Building Construction Commission licence, and achieved Level 2B certification with Steel Sustainability Australia, reinforcing our commitment to quality and sustainability.
Collaboration extends beyond project delivery - it’s at the heart of our workplace culture. This year, we strengthened our team bond through engaging wellness sessions with A1 Wellness, promoting well-being and resilience across the company.
Our commitment to the community and future generations remains strong. Through our student program with the Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP), we engaged with students to raise awareness about career pathways in metalwork. This initiative included workshops and career advisor conferences, helping inspire the next generation of industry professionals.
Our involvement in the Sydney Children’s Hospital projects at Randwick and Westmead inspired us to launch a fundraiser for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. The funds raised will support state-of-the-art equipment, pioneering research, and essential staff training, ultimately helping bring children home from hospital sooner and enhancing their care.
As we wrap up another successful year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of Icon Metal, our clients, contractors, and subcontractors. Your dedication and teamwork make our achievements possible.
We look forward to an exciting 2025, filled with new projects, continued growth, and further opportunities for collaboration. Thank you for being part of our journey—here’s to another year of success together!
